Happy April! It is spring break week around these parts. Our plans consist of picking out items to repair my master bathroom and living room after a massive water leak. I shared the disaster on IG a few weeks ago. It has been a bit exhausting and inconvenient but I’m excited about a new bathroom on the other end of this journey. Until then, we’ve been waiting on the spring weather to arrive while we channel the 80’s in our windbreakers.
I’m going to go ahead and wish you a Happy Black History Month. To keep it real, we need to celebrate Black History every month, every day. As a people, I think we are doing a great job of highlighting our achievements all year long. Now that the girls are getting older and can better understand, I’m going to do my best to understand why Black History is so important but it won’t be easy.
Happy September! September is a busy month for me because you have Labor Day weekend in addition to a lot of family birthdays to celebrate. Both my mom and Harper have September birthdays. This year my mom turns 80! We celebrated her birthday this past weekend in Chicago. Harper’s is on September 17th and I still don’t have concrete plans *face palm*. September marks that time of year where I want to break out the jeans and boots (even though it’s still hot). Peyton is rocking an adorable fall transition outfit to kick off September.
FINALLY! Decorating my living room has been on my vision board for the last two years. I’m so happy it’s finally done and I love it! My old living room wasn’t the worse but it was just there, made up of items that I’ve picked up over the years. The first home that I purchased by myself at 26 was decorated to the nines. I was happy to host parties and showers for my friends because it was so nice. I handpicked furniture and decor just for this space. I basically kept those same items and made it fit into my next homes. We purchased our current home about 3 years ago. I love this house and I plan to be here for a while so I’ve been slowly trying to make each space in this house our own. The next stage will be to renovate the staircase, with a balustrade from Pear Stairs. But we are in no rush! My design style is Boho Traditional. I have a traditional home but I wanted to add a little Boho/Global flair to our space. With a small budget, I took the time to decorate my living room in my style and I’m so happy with how it turned out.

Pop open the ice cream because we’re about to celebrate! Guess who’s turning 8 this week! WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE? My sweet baby doll is growing up! The new Art Class x Museum of Ice Cream collection recently hit Target stores and is perfect for the occasion. This Art Class collection at Target includes fun Museum of Ice Cream inspired clothes and accessories for both girls and boys. Peyton is rocking an outfit that I desperately wish came in my size, all sequin pullover and shorts from the Art Class x Museum of Ice Cream collection.
