One of my favorite fashion brands is Gucci. I’ve been a fan of Gucci since I graduated college and got my first paycheck. I’ve been blessed to have been able to collect a few bags over the years. I’ve always felt that Gucci had an urban appeal or maybe it was it because the 80’s hip-hop culture embraced the brand. Either way, I would eat ramen noodles all month just to buy a bag. Of course, adult life has brought my luxury shopping days to a screeching halt. New tires for my suv or a new bag? Replace the AC unit or a new bag. Remodel the kitchen or a new bag. It’s always something. Finally, I’m excited to introduce you to the newest member of my Gucci family.
I hope you all had a great weekend. This is the first weekend in a while that I didn’t have anything to do. The last couple of months have been filled with birthdays, travel, out of town guests, photo shoots, 5ks and more. It was nice to not have to be anywhere. I even made it to church on Sunday. It’s finally feeling like fall in Atlanta! Time to break out the Ugg boots! To be honest, I broke out my Uggs a few weeks ago just because I missed them. I only wore them in the mornings though. Now that it’s fall, my girls and I are rocking our favorite neutral, camo.
Now that I’ve reached the end of my 30s, I’ve been looking back at the lessons that I learned. I learned that 30s are way better than 20s. When I was younger, I felt like I couldn’t “shine bright like a diamond” because there would be people saying… Who do you think you are? You think you’re better than everybody? So I would suppress living up to my full potential because I didn’t want those people to talk negatively about me. As I got older, I I didn’t feel the need to impress anyone or look for validation. I just do me and here I am. This tee from Pintsize Faith sums up everything I just said. John 4:44.
This weekend I will be celebrating another year of life. Originally I wanted to stay low-key and attend music festival to see my 1st husband Nas. But my real husband decided to plan something extra. Since I’m getting old and can’t hang like I used to, I tried to talk him out of it. Now I’m kind of excited to party all weekend. Now I just need for the temps to drop so I can go full blown fall fashion. I’m crushing on this velvet boho dress from Bohemia.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Olay. The opinions and text are all mine.
As a longtime fan of Olay, during my college years, Olay kept my face flawless on a budget. Now that I’m knocking on 40, my skin requires a little more maintenance. About a month ago I shared on Instagram that I was participating in the #Olay28Day challenge using only the Olay Luminous line for my skincare needs. I have very dry areas on my face. As a woman of color, it’s hard to find that balance of moisture that doesn’t make you look greasy. Keep reading for my before and after results.
